Must-Do Activities in Rotorua – A Day in Nature!
Walk high among the majestic redwood trees. Experience the spirit of Rotorua’s iconic redwood forest up close from above, surrounded by these gentle giants that are over 120 years old.
This suspended eco-walkway offers a unique bird’s-eye view of the forest, capturing its picturesque beauty and atmosphere. Starting at 700 meters in length, the one-of-a-kind New Zealand Treewalk consists of a series of 27 suspension bridges spanning 28 towering redwood trees, each over a century old. The walkway is specially designed and constructed 9 to 20 meters above the forest canopy to protect the trees, plants, and surrounding natural environment. Built using pioneering sling technology—a first in New Zealand—the walkway is suspended from the redwoods. This eco-walk is perfect for rainy days, as the enchanting colors of the forest come alive in the rain. No harnesses or training are required; simply enjoy at your own pace while soaking in the tranquility and spirit of this extraordinary forest. Leave feeling inspired, refreshed, and revitalized!
